چکیده

NIR tomography image reconstruction can be improved by incorporating spectral constraints and prior spatial information. The convergence of scattering power was studied based on the distribution of projection error with different parameters. The reason that scattering properties are harder to recover than chromophore concentrations was discussed. Using “hard prior” spectral reconstruction, the role of stopping criteria was found to be important. Multiple wavelength simulations were used to choose suitable stopping criteria. Preliminary tests using a wavelength tunable Ti-Sapphire laser shows promise for frequency domain measurements covering a wide range of wavelengths.

On the suitability of Near-Infrared Systems for Next Generation Brain Computer Interfaces

Introduction Since Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) was first reported in 1977 by Jobsis[1] as a new “window” into the body, it has found many uses within the biomedical field. Single channel near-infrared systems are most commonly used in clinical surroundings for transcranial cerebral oximetry in neonatal care, hematoma detection, and stroke patient monitoring. In addition to its clinical us...

Hyperspectral Imaging for Diffuse Optical Tomography

Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) has emerged in the last decade as a new and exciting tool for functional medical imaging with applications in a range of areas including breast cancer detection and diagnosis. DOT employs observations of near infrared (NIR) light that has propagated through tissue to reconstruct the spatial distribution of various chromophores present in the region of interest. ...

Singular value decomposition based computationally efficient algorithm for rapid dynamic near-infrared diffuse optical tomography.

PURPOSE A computationally efficient algorithm (linear iterative type) based on singular value decomposition (SVD) of the Jacobian has been developed that can be used in rapid dynamic near-infrared (NIR) diffuse optical tomography. METHODS Numerical and experimental studies have been conducted to prove the computational efficacy of this SVD-based algorithm over conventional optical image recon...
